NEW ENGLAND YACHT CRUISE
September 4 – 11, 2021
Sailing the waters of southern New England in September is the best! Warm breeze in the day with slightly cool nights. The summer crowds have gone away and the stunning islands and mainland towns are yours to enjoy!
This is an 8 day/7 night sailing cruise on a Luxurious Catamaran from Newport, Rhode Island.
Lagoon 46
This cruise is on board a stable Lagoon 46 catamaran. This yacht has 3 private double staterooms (6 guests) with ensuite heads and showers in each stateroom. If it gets a little warm, the interior is fully air conditioned. On deck, there is ample seating and lounging areas. The galley is fully equipped for dining on board.
Newport
The cruise begins in Newport – one of the yachting capitals of the world and a famous Summer/Fall destination. After boarding the boat and settling in, an afternoon and evening exploring the town. Walk along Cliff Walk, perhaps visiting a summer cottage (mansion) like Rosecliff featured in The Gatsby, and dining at one of Newport’s many restaurants like the Clarke Cooke House or the White Horse Tavern.
The next day, we will sail out of Newport Harbor, past the iconic Castle Rock Lighthouse (starting area of the Newport-Bermuda Race) – perhaps crossing tacks with a classic Americas Cup 12 meter yacht. Where we go from there will depend on the weather and your particular desires with guidance from your experienced skipper. If you love to sail and steer – please do, if not, you can let the crew do it for you!
Cuttyhunk and Islands
Cuttyhunk and the Elizabeth Islands are a good first stop with a charming harbor and village to explore.
Marthas Vineyard
Marthas Vineyard is close by to Cuttyhunk and the sail up the sheltered waters of Vineyard Sound to Edgartown is about 20 miles. After picking up a mooring in the harbor, Edgartown is a delight to explore with beautiful homes, shops and dining and drinking establishments.
Beach Picnic – Marthas Vineyard
One option is to have an amazing sunset dinner on the beach which is organized and hosted by Kristen Gosselin and her staff at KG Events & Design
Nantucket
The next day, we sail across Nantucket Sound to Nantucket with its famous beaches, town and harbor. Exploring the quiet side streets with flowering hydrangea surrounding classic New England cottages and homes is a favorite thing to do. Many of the homes are topped by a “widows walk.” Maybe you will want to stop in a shop and become the proud owner of a Nantucket basket purse.
Block Island
From Nantucket, we head back to the west with possible stops at Hyannis ( home to the Kennedy clan), Menemsha and then on to Block Island. Sailing into Block Island through the narrow entrance past Gunners Hill and mooring in Great Salt Pond is an amazing experience. Block Island is home to some spectacular beaches that are well worth exploring.
From Block Island we will sail back into Newport at the end of your cruise.
Your Skipper for this cruise is Ross Lysinger, who was born in Newport and has sailed extensively throughout New England and the World.
